In 1746, the Rao of Salumbar attacked Jawas and killed the Chief, Rao Hanumant singh, taking possession of the estate, it was recovered in 1756, by Rao Natha, son of the murdered chief. The estate was ravaged again by the Salumbar troops and in 1824, it was confiscated by the Maharana of Mewar, though later restored. Daulat Singh, Thakur of Babulwara was an influential Bhil leader, who died in 1841 and was succeeded by his son, Amar Singh, who later in December 1874, also succeeded to Jawas, on the death of his nephew, Bhairon Singh. Jawas the capital of the estate is situated on the right bank of the River Som, some 15 kilometres from the cantonment of Kherwara.
