PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The estate which consists of 213 villages, of which the majority are situated to the west of Banswara, yields a revenue of about Rs. 1,12,000 and pays a tribute of Rs. 1,500-8 to the Banswara Darbar. Of the whole estate, 125 villages comprised in the district of Chilkari were conquered by Banswara troops from the neighbouring State of Sunth Rampur in Rewa Kantha, and were all subsequently bestowed on Thakur Udai Singh, the leader of the force. Thakur AGAR SINGHJI, Thakur Saheb of Wasi, he was originally from Thakurda in Dungarpur, he received the Jagir of Wasi in Banswara, fl.1750, married and had issue. He was killed in an attempt to reduce to subjection certain mutinous members of the Dungarpur Maharawals family.

Thakur UDAI SINGHJI, Thakur Saheb of Wasi, he was successful in finishing off what his father had started for which he received the Jagirs of Garhi and Nawagaon (taken from the rebels), other villages were added later for services rendered to the Maharawal of Dungarpur's family in expelling the Marathas.

Rao RATAN SINGHJI, Thakur Saheb (later Rao) of Garhi, Kamdar of Banswara 1874/1876, he was the prime mover in the substitution in the State of Banswara of the Surpur line for that of Khandu; he was granted the title of Rao [cr.1872] by the Maharana of Udaipur, married and had issue.

Rao SANGRAM SINGHJI, Rao Saheb of Garhi 1889/1905, born 1873 as Kunwar Sangram Singh, son of Thakur Udai Singh of Thakurda, and succeeded by adoption; married the daughter of the Thakur of Semlia in Sailana [?Maharaj Bhawani Singh], and had adoptive issue. He died 1905.

Rao RAI SINGHJI, Rao Saheb of Garhi 1905/-, born 1887, son of Thakur Amar Singh of Gamra, an off-shoot of Thakurda in Banswara, he succeeded by adoption in 1905; ducated at Mayo College, Ajmer; married and had issue, two sons. He died 17th October 1918.
