PREDECESSORS AND SHORT HISTORY: The estate was formerly situated in Ukhra Pargana, Chapra Thana, Nadia District (now in the Indian part of Nadia Dist.). Nadia is split between India and Bangladesh, the latter has a part of the Eastern side, whereas the Bansberia Raj and Nadia Raj are both in the Indian part. The zamindars of Bansberia Raj are of the senior branch of the same family as the zamindars of Dinajpur Raj, in that both were founded by sons of Ishwar of Bansberia, the elder son Keshav, received Bansbaria and Bishnu, the younger son, received Dinajpur.
