Rai Bahadur Babu Sri BHAGWATI SARAN SINGH, Zamindar of Anapur -/1945, born 10th September 1884, closely related to the Maharajas of Benares and Bettiah; widely travelled, he was a great philanthropist who donated generously for education and other humanitarian causes; Member of Sanskrit University, Varanasi and B.H.U. council; he established a Sanskrit Pathshala at Shringverpur and also an intermediate college at Anapur; he was appointed an honorary 2nd class Magistrate; he maintained a free ayurvedic dispensary and built the Anapur Bishop Hospital; he served as M.L.C. of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and was also member of the zamindars association of Agra and Awadh; he maintained a modern scientific Dairy farm at Anapur; married 1stly, Srimati Maiya Godavari Kuer, daughter of Raja Rameshwar Prasad Narain Singh Bahadur of Maksudpur, married 2ndly, Srimati Babuain Chandrakala Devi, she died 14th January 1984, and had issue, three daughters (by first wife). He died 2nd March 1945.
