In January 2023, Dads Caucus Chair and Founder Jimmy Gomez brought his son Hodge to the House floor during a record-breaking speaker vote, and the moment went viral. It highlighted a double standard: men are praised for bringing their kids to work, while women are often criticized. The experience reinforced his belief that dads must not only show up at home, but also advocate for their families in Congress.
The Dads Caucus champions working families by pushing for a national paid leave program, affordable and accessible child care, and expansion of the Child Tax Credit.
