Having previously covered the national league relegation battle, I feel it's only right to look up and have a look at the promotion race.
Relegated Forest Green lost players like Fankaty Dabo and Luke Daniels but they managed to retain players like Kyle McAllister and Charlie McCann. They have double swooped Liam Sercombe and Sean long from Rivals Cheltenham. Last season's Runner ups, Dean Brennan's Barnet have made 8 signings including Nick Hayes and Nikola Tavares but have lost players like Laurie Walker who is a free agent linked to Tamworth as well as Ebbsfleet. Skipper Dale Gorman who is a free agent has also departed. I didn't expect to talk about these lot here but after Saturday's shopping spree I have to talk about York City. On Saturday they signed arguably the best VNL keeper in 23/24 Harrison Male from Dorking, striker Ollie Pearce from Worthing who scored FORTY THREE goals in the National League South last season, Winger Ashley Nathaniel George from Maidenhead and right back Joe Felix from Worthing who got into the 23/24 National League South team of the season. Another team who I can't ignore is Woking. The Cardinals made 5 signings today, Left back Cian Harries from Aldershot, Barnet Skipper Dale Gorman on a free, Long-time Sutton united player Harry Beautyman on a free too, Jacob Jones from Scottish League one side Cove Rangers and Timi Odusina from Bradford who was on loan at Woking in 23/24 getting a 6.96 average rating. Another side going for the title will be Gateshead. They've lost attacker Dajuane Brown who has put up 6 goals in just 7 starts. I can't find any signings so their squad might not be title worthy just yet. Another title challenging side will be Altrincham but that entirely depends on if they keep Chris Conn-Clarke who is being eyed by Pompey and Ipswich. We could also see Hartlepool being up there, a possible dark horse. They haven't made any signings as of writing but Mani Dieseruvwe is red hot. They've kept Nicky Featherstone and Joe Grey, some of their best players. My early Predictions are Forest Green to win the league and Barnet, Woking, York City, Gateshead, Hartlepool and Sutton united in the playoffs. Best of luck to every team this season.
