What I learned:

• In presentations, focus on why people should care

• Don't get bogged down in technical details during the presentation (although they are important to know)

• Talk to people about your issues, even if you don't think they'll be able to help

  • Our mentor, Laura Gagliano, although not having any experience in the specific topic of the case comp, she had some great personal experiences which turned out to be very relevant.

Other thoughts on the competition:

Working as a consultant must be hard work. We were in the dark for a lot of this competition. We were given some information about the company, but had very little input into how to scope our solutions, which made choosing which solutions to present very difficult.

This comp also demonstrated that I need to work a lot on my organization skills. Our team had a lot of docs that we typed up on and never used or referenced agian. One useful tip I learned at the end which I should definitely use in the future is to record teams calls, and then summarize the transcript for later recall, or for creation of action items.
