BIO

Hi, and thanks for visiting my page. I am currently earning my Ed.D. in educational technology at Boise State. My research interests center on the ways emerging technologies can be used to create learning environments that promote student choice and deep, immersive, situated learning across diverse student populations. I am interested in gamification, game-based learning, and augmented reality, particularly their use in multilevel classes and the role of narrative frameworks. My background in ESL and Asian studies has led to a specific focus on language and culture learning and on global perspectives of educational technology. I am also always interested in research around standardized testing.

I earned my master's from Harvard in East Asian studies and my B.A. from Kenyon College. I spent several years in China researching contemporary and folk art on a Fulbright Research Scholarship and teaching English to large classes of preschoolers, high schoolers, and college students. I later initiated and developed the Mandarin program at an independent day and boarding school in Ohio, where I also taught ESL and summer English classes for international students. I currently own a test prep company and teach and tutor prep for the ACTs, SATs, GREs, and GMATs. I'm from Cleveland and living in California with my husband, two children, and big dog named Chum.
