According to Trevor McNevan "It's a concept record, the entire album will be one story from beginning to end. It's based on a boy (and occasionally a girl) and their diary entries about what's going on in their lives. It deals with faith, doubt, love, death, and the honest questions that surround living and growing up in modern day culture. We're very pumped about this record and are excited to share it with you."[citation needed] The cover art was drawn by Worth Dying For guitarist Nathan Parrish.

Prior to the album's release, the songs "Boy Moves to a New Town With Optimistic Outlook", "The Unavoidable Battle of Feeling on the Outside", and "Take Me As I Am" were released on the band's MySpace page.[5]

Sad that no one has commented on this in 13 years.. Anyway this song is about the boy featured in the Dear Diary album (Aero) and him writing his thoughts about God down on paper. It\'s really the song where he really makes his faith his own, like he\'s been wanting to do since Voyage of Beliefs.

FM Static is a Pop punk band that makes albums with Tooth & Nail Records. The band was started by Thousand Foot Krutch (another band) lead man Trevor McNevan and Thousand Foot Krutch drummer Steve Augustine. In 2003, they made their first album called (What Are You Waiting For?). This album has sold over 60,000 copies so far[source?] and had the singles "Definitely Maybe" and "Crazy Mary". On August 1, 2006, FM Static started selling their second album called Critically Ashamed, which has the single "Waste of Time" on it. Their third album was announced in late April 2008. The two piece finished recording "Dear Diary" in early August 2008. It was released on April 7, 2009.

Rock acts bringing side projects into being have been part and parcelof the Christian music scene for years now. Current Underoath'sdrummer Aaron Gillespie is enjoying great sales success with his bandThe Almost while Relient K's Matt Thiessen occasionally releasestracks by Matthew Thiessen & The Earthquakes. But possibly thelongest established side project is the Toronto-based pop punk band FM Static fronted byTrevor McNevan who, of course, is also the leader of best sellersThousand Foot Krutch. Their three albums, 'What Are You Waiting For'(2003), 'Critically Ashamed' (2006) and 'Dear Diary' (2009), have allsold well. The only two official members of FM Static are frontman McNevan and drummerSteve Augustine with other musos guesting on the albums and occasionalgigs.

Toronto-based McNevan told Jesusfreakhideout how 'Dear Diary' cameinto being: "The last couple years, I've been into trying to createmusic a little more theatrically, and I'm a big movie fan. I think itwas a little bit stemmed through that, but nothing specific. It waskind of just a really inspired record, man. It wasn't even like,'Here's when we've gotta start writing this, and here's when we'vegotta record it.' It just kind of came about. It was refreshing, man,and I had a blast. I love just writing in general, so I got to write astory based around the subject and kind of let the songs tell the restof the story. It was a lot of fun. My buddy Nathan Parish, who playsfor Worth Dying For, did all the illustrations throughout the record. We were also blessed to get this amazing animator from Germany. Hedoes a lot of incredible stuff, including the three FM Static videos forthe record. All the videos are animated, we're not even in them. It'skind of fun, actually. It's gonna further tell the story of the boy[from the diary]. It's a whole different way to approach a record. Itwas as inspired as when I sit down to just right anything. It wasn'tcontrived. With the way you write stories, there's a little morethought that has to go into the overall big picture. It was just avery natural progression."

'Dear Diary' is very much a concept album about the adventures andmisadventures of a character called Aero. So how did Aero begin life?"Actually, we didn't name him until right before the record came out.We wanted to do a blog online where he introduced the story a littlebit at a time. It seemed a little unidentifiable to have him benameless, so we just called him Aero Static. Tricia Brock fromSuperchick, who is actually married to our guitar player, is a reallygood friend of mine, and she's kind of the female voice in the story. The boy calls her 'E.T.' because he's just blown away by this girl. Itwas so fun, man. I'm excited to just share the music with people. We've gotten a really encouraging response from it, which has beenawesome. It was kind of freaky because I've never done the storyconcept thing in the past. So you don't know if people are just gonnabypass one half of it and just listen to the music. It really is kindof a "read and listen" experience. It's good, we were blessed."

A lot has fallen into place since FM Static began in 2003. Tooth & NailRecords released 'What Are You Waiting For' and to everyone's surpriseit moved 60,000 units, a big figure for a side project. One pressrelease described FMStatic's rock 'n' roll credo as "just fun. Unabashed, summertime, walk in the park, roll-down-your-windows-on-a-road-trip kind of fun."Buoyed by the success of 'What Are You Waiting For', FM Static's 'CriticallyAshamed' again caught the ear. The infectious "Flock Culture" is aclever put down of celebrity lives and attitudes, a theme also echoedin "The Next Big Thinga". Now 'Dear Diary' completes the trio of zanyfun-filled punk pop albums. As well as Tricia Brock the album alsofeatures Randy Torres from Project 86 on guitar.

"Dear Diary" is a 1969 song by the progressive rock band The Moody Blues. Written by the band's flautist Ray Thomas, "Dear Diary" was first released on the 1969 album On the Threshold of a Dream. be457b7860
