The layout covers a lot of miles in a small area, but it lets me run the car types I like and gives me lots to do. I model Great Northern rolling stock mostly because I love the colors and location names were chosen mostly to give it direction and purpose. All industries are typical rather than location replicas. The layout runs about 220 ft. on 2 levels in a 21’ X 24’ room with lots of isle space. The mainline runs from the Main Yard in Minneapolis to Stagging in Seattle with a few branch lines in between. There is an interchange for Canadian freight at 2 locations. There are 8 sidings the shortest holds 2 Locomotives 15 cars and caboose thus governing normal train length. I try to hold regular operating sessions. A typical operating session will have 450 cars, 60 locomotives and 8 to 10 operators The mainline turnouts are local or computer control as well the mainline is block detected and ready for signal all done using Signalogic Systems equipment and can be run with or without Dispatcher.
