FROM OUR CHAPTER PRESIDENT 2025
FROM OUR CHAPTER PRESIDENT 2025
Hello and Welcome to this Meeting Place! Chapter Members, National Only Members, New and Transferring Members, NARFE members wintering here, and Members of other Organizations and Associations with NARFE-similar General Objectives. (Whew!). There are many organizations that represent us Feds — active and retired— from Unions, to Federations,
to Associations, to groups unknown to me. Most, maybe all, represent very specific groups within the Federal Government. Only NARFE represents us ALL! Each and every time the NARFE Legislative Action Center composes a letter, or our NARFE President or lobbyist go to the Hill to call on lawmakers of both parties, it is for ALL of us.
It is my privilege to head-up Sarasota Chapter 242 of NARFE, but the Board governs the Chapter. By joining the Chapter for just $7.00 a year, you will start receiving our information-rich NEWSLETTER which contains the names of those serving on the Board and a point of contact. All are volunteers — some long-serving and others “just arrived.” All are from various branches of the Federal Government, and they are all friendly! Since Board Meetings are open to all Members, please make the time to attend a Board meeting, and see for yourself. And there are plenty of chances to help.
For 2025 our Chapter will continue to meet at Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers, 6727 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL. If you are here for the winter, maybe missing your Chapter back home and looking for some Chapter life here, we would love to have you at one of our meetings. To attend a Chapter meeting, go to the most recent Newsletter (on this website) and look for the contact information for our Treasurer. ($22.00@ for pizza-buffet, beverage, and tip. Oh yes, and something for the sweet-tooth.) You will, of course, have to show him the money.
The Chapter meets only five times during season; the Board has a meeting or two more, depending on what needs to be done. Every Chapter member is responsible for recruiting eligible members. The larger we become, the more the 119th Congress will know us and legislation that NARFE
supports and opposes. Imagine, if just half of the nearly three-million feds who stand to benefit from passage of the Social Security Fairness Act, for decades a NARFE goal, joined (or reinstated) their membership in NARFE!!
Peace out,
Bill Vander Heyden
NARFE242 President
