Protothaca euglypta (Sowerby, 1914)

レア度：よく見られる

形態：アサリとよく似た二枚貝。輪郭はまるく、貝殻は白色で模様がない。成長線を細かく刻み、それに交差する細かいすじがあるため、表面は名前の通り布目状になっている。ただし、貝殻の後部（水管が出るほう）は布目状ではない。

生息域：東北地方以北～サハリン、千島列島南部、沿海地方に分布し、潮間帯から水深10mの砂礫底に生息する。

生態：Pace-of-lifeの個体群間変異があり、北部の個体群ほど成長が遅いが、寿命が長いことが知られている (Selin 2008a)。肉食性巻貝に捕食される (Selin 2008b)。
