Digdarshak, literally translating to The Director, was set in the city of dreams Mumbai. This sketch explored the relationship between a drama teacher and his student, who slowly climbed up the ladder of fame, whilst the teacher was left tattering with his broken stage, and an resolved anguish of betrayal.
Set in a distant village in Karnataka, this cult play by Girish Karnad sends the audience in the middle of an arranged marriage in a seemingly normal middle class Nadkarni household. However, as the play progresses, layers of each character are slowly peeled off by their words and actions, and darker secrets are revealed. At the end, one is left to wonder - is anyone really who they pretend to be ?
