Program Overview

The NAIST–LPDP Co-Funding Scholarship Program is a jointly financed scholarship initiative between the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) and the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan. The program aims to support Indonesian students pursuing postgraduate studies at the Master's and doctoral (PhD) levels.

The program provides opportunities for advanced study and research in NAIST's three main fields:

Information Science
Biological Science
Materials Science

Through this partnership, NAIST and LPDP aim to foster academic excellence, strengthen research collaboration between Indonesia and Japan, and contribute to the development of highly skilled researchers and professionals.

Number of Scholarships

Three (3) scholarships are available per academic year, covering both Master's and doctoral (PhD) programs.

The total number of scholarships is three across both degree levels, rather than three scholarships for each degree level.

The specific scholarship benefits and duration of financial support are subject to the terms and conditions of the NAIST–LPDP Co-Funding Scholarship Program.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants for the NAIST–LPDP Co-Funding Scholarship Program must meet the following requirements:

(1) Nationality

Applicants must be Indonesian citizens.

(2) Academic Qualifications

Applicants must have an excellent academic record and meet the following minimum GPA requirements:

Master's Program: A minimum GPA of 2.30 out of 3.00 in their bachelor's degree.
Doctoral (PhD) Program: A minimum GPA of 2.30 out of 3.00 in their master's degree.

Scholarship recipients are expected to maintain the required academic standard throughout the scholarship period.

(3) Language Proficiency

Applicants must demonstrate sufficient proficiency in English or Japanese.

English: Certified test results from TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo are accepted. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency equivalent to CEFR B2 or higher across all four language skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing).

Japanese: Applicants must provide certified Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) results demonstrating N2 level or higher.

Applicants must complete both the NAIST Pre-application and the LPDP scholarship application within the designated application period.

Applicants must also complete the application process through the official LPDP scholarship application system, following LPDP's instructions and requirements.

Important: Submission to NAIST alone does not constitute an application to LPDP, and vice versa. Applicants must complete both application procedures to be considered for the NAIST–LPDP Co-Funding Scholarship Program.
