BSc in Mechanical Engineering (2022)

Hi, I'm Nahian Masud. Currently doing my MSc from Washington State University and working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University. My research is on CFD Simulation of Oscillating Hydrokinetic Turbine under the supervision of Dr. Chris Qin. It is a form of renewable energy. Previously, I conducted research and published multiple research articles on Microbial Fuel Cell, which is another form of renewable energy.
I have completed my undergraduate from the Mechanical Engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), the most prestigious engineering institute in Bangladesh. I served as a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sonargaon University for 1 semester and worked as a Research Officer in a project of ICDDR,B.
My undergraduate thesis is on thrust vectoring of a supersonic micronozzle using dsmcFoam+ solver, supervised by Prof. A.B.M. Toufique Hasan, ME, BUET. For the thesis purpose, we used the Macro-to-Micro scale Fluids Engineering Lab (MμFEL). I have also worked on a number of research projects on Microbial Fuel Cell with Dr. Mohammad Ali and Dr. Aman Uddin. Currently, I am working on thrust vectoring of micronozzle using the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) approach with Prof. A.B.M. Toufique Hasan. Also, I am working on the development of electrode materials for a microbial fuel cell with Dr. Aman Uddin.
My main focus is on Renewable Energy, Computational Fluid Dynamics, High-Speed Aerodynamics, and Molecular Gas Dynamics. I constantly concentrate my attention on learning new concepts, computational techniques, software, and programming languages in order to improve as a researcher and have an edge over my peers. As a young CFD scientist, I think we must put emphasis on solving the problems of fluid dynamics more accurately and efficiently using the DSMC method.
