Can machines think like us one day? Will consciousness be ever captured in inanimate objects? Can we make machines that mimic the human brain not only in function but also in architecture?
A N M Nafiul Islam is working towards developing robust, energy-efficient brain-inspired devices, systems, and algorithms for emerging nano-electronic platforms. His research takes a multi-disciplinary approach combining device physics, machine learning and neuroscience.
Currently, he is pursuing his PhD at the Pennsylvania State University - working at the Neuromorphic Computing Lab supervised by Dr. Abhronil Sengupta. He completed his B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2020 and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Penn State in 2023.
His research interests include: Nanoelectronic Devices for Neuromorphic Computing, Beyond CMOS technologies, Device Modelling and Characterization, Computational Neuroscience.
