Know the Law
Know the Law: A Guide for Youth and Parents
Provided through the Community Coalition Alliance, the Know the Law program aims to inform and educate youth and adults on the importance of following the law.
The program also seeks to provide clarity to obscure misconceptions that students may currently believe. “Ignorance of the law” is never an acceptable excuse for breaking the law.
The Know the Law Program is taught in middle and high schools by trained School Resource Officers. The program consists of Know the Law PowerPoint presentation, a pretest and posttest to measure knowledge gained, and technical support. The information provided is appropriate to students 6-8 grade and 9-12 grade.
The presentation covers topics such as:
- Crime Defined
- Principal Theory
- Personal Crimes
- Property Crimes
- Mental Health
- Violent Felonies
- Fleeing & Eluding
- Future Consequences
This Know The Law presentation was given at a national conference describing the Know The Law program and the outcomes of the course. For more information about Know The Law, please contact Kerrie Albert at firstname.lastname@example.org
