Baekjin moves into a new apartment that suits his isolated personality more.
He notices the cats in the area always gather near one specific neighbor, a friendly, overly curious person who insists on including Baekjin in conversations. As they bond over caring for strays, this person becomes the first to gently push him into a social life he didn’t expect.

Baekjin visits a small cafe on quiet afternoons, it feels safe, peaceful.
But one day, he comes across someone doodling a bastet, watching over a child who looks exactly like him… and scenes from his past he never shared.
The artist claims they “just dream them.”
Baekjin realizes their visions might not be coincidence but prophetic, rooted in magical influence neither of them asked for. As he cautiously gets closer to uncover the truth, the artist begins to see future dangers involving him, and refuses to leave his side.

Baekjin’s presence makes people uneasy. The sharpness in his stillness, the predator in his eyes.
Most instinctively avoid him.
But there is one person; calm, perceptive, who never flinches. They hold his gaze without challenge or fear. They treat him like he’s simply… a person.
This confuses him.
He watches them more closely, waiting for their discomfort to show. It never does.
Instead, they ask him small, human questions:
“What food do you like?” , “Do you sleep well?”
Things no one ever cared to ask.

One of Bastet’s sacred guardians, a golden-eyed cat and Baekjin's companion, abandons him, and attaches itself to a person who clearly doesn't know much about the gods.
This shouldn’t be possible.
He approaches cautiously, trying to reclaim the cat… but it hisses at him and purrs for the stranger.
Curious, Baekjin keeps returning.
He learns the stranger is living a life crumbling at the edges, dignity held together by stubborn hope. The cat refuses to leave their side… because they are in desperate need of protection..
..and Baekjin feels it too.

Baekjin meets someone.
Maybe at the hospital, on a walk, or even at the store.
The interaction didn't go well. Probably from him stumbling over his words or going nonverbal when the situation didn't call for it. Either way, it was embarrassing, yet he tries again and again, each time he sees the stranger. But it always fails.
This time, he tries in his true form, wanting to see through the wall that was so difficult to break down due to his nerves. It works, but maybe too well.
He listens, more than he had ever listened before, and that was when a simple rant to a kitten, turns into an attraction that ran far deeper than a pretty face.
And all he could do was return. In the only way he knew how to.
There was no need for the truth.
