Should I Vote by Mail or In Person?

Oklahoma has no-excuse absentee/vote by mail and only three days of early voting. Absentee/VBM ballots will require a notary's signature, but will give you a more flexible timeframe to vote if you will be busy or unavailable the weekend before Election Day.

To avoid possible postal delays impacting your vote, we recommend mailing your completed ballot back by Tuesday, October 13th. Plan to drop it off by hand after that.

Important Deadlines

Deadlines do not take into account the time it takes to send application requests to the state, then mail absentee ballots to the voter, and then returning completed absentee ballots to the state. Please be proactive in submitting applications and ballots three weeks prior to all posted deadlines to avoid being impacted by postal delays.

When Absentee/Mail-in Ballots are Due

Most absentee ballots must be delivered to your County Election Board by mail or hand delivery by 7pm local time on Election Day, November 3, 2020.

Those who requested "physically incapacitated" or "care for physically incapacitated persons" absentee ballots (Pink Affidavit) must return their ballots by U.S. mail or by a private mail service that has delivery documentation.

Do I Need a Notary or Witnesses to Sign my Ballot?

Yes; typically, absentee ballot envelope must be notarized. Notaries may not notarize more than 20 absentee ballot affidavits without the written approval of the election board.

For November, absentee ballots with a yellow stripe can either be notarized or include a photocopy of an acceptable photo or non-photo ID.

Absentee ballots with a pink stripe (available only to voters with COVID-19 or who are at high risk for COVID-19) must either be signed by two witnesses or include a photocopy of an acceptable ID.

Will I Need a Photo ID or Non-Photo ID to Vote?

In addition to photo IDs, a voter registration card is also permitted. If ID is not presented, the voter votes on a provisional ballot and election officials verify the information provided.

All Oklahoma voters must present ID before casting a ballot. Voters may present a voter ID card issued by their county election board, or a ID issued by the U.S. government, state government, or tribal government that provides the voter’s name and photograph and that is current as of the date of voting.

Voters who lack the appropriate ID may file a sworn affidavit and cast a provisional ballot.
