Should I Vote by Mail or In Person?

Because Delaware does not offer early voting in person, and is accepting COVID-19 concerns as a legitimate excuse to vote absentee/by mail, Delaware voters should strongly consider voting absentee/VBM rather than waiting until Election Day.

To avoid possible postal delays impacting your vote, we recommend mailing your completed ballot back by Tuesday, October 13th. Plan to drop it off by hand after that.

Can Someone Else Return My Ballot on My Behalf?

Absentee voters must return their ballots by U.S. mail, by delivering it, or “causing it to be delivered” prior to the close of polls on November 3, 2020. There is no explicit provision for an agent or designee to return an absentee ballot on behalf of a voter.

Voters will be asked to show ID when checking in to vote, but they may sign an affirmation of identity if they do not have accepted proof of identity.

Acceptable IDs together must show the identity and address of the voter and includes:

Delaware driver's license or State ID

U. S. passport

Signed polling place or Social Security card

Signed vehicle registration

Signed credit card with photo

A similar document that identifies the person by photo or signature
