Call for speakers!
We are honored to announce that our “traditional” Monday Informal Seminar will bear a new name, The Myron Strongin Seminar, effective Monday November 18, 2013.
This program was an initiative of the late BNL Physicist Myron Strongin. Its purpose was to offer a lighthearted venue for researchers in our department to present new and up-and-coming work, in an informal setting, to their colleagues. Myron’s career at BNL spanned 47 years! Driven by his passion for discovery and compassion for you, this program has been a remarkable success in the past, helping to foster creativity, curiosity, courtesy, and cooperativity in our workplace. There is no better way to honor his memory than to continue this seminar series which now bears his name.
In calling for speakers, we are, as Myron was, looking for:
Speakers who want to talk about new work before submitting a manuscript. Your work will be rewarded with the precious gift of constructive pre-review by a pool of excellent "referees" in our department.
Speakers who want to talk about the published work. It will be a good opportunity to advertise your accomplishment and perhaps more interestingly to identify new questions and collaborations.
Junior members or newcomers to quickly acquaint yourself with the other departmental members on the topics of your interest.
