The large tower of this gothic church dominates the small town of Oirschot despite the fact it is no longer of the original height. It reflects the history of the whole church built in 1268 that was many times destroyed, rebuilt, changed ownership and experienced many turbulent historic moments.
"In this you rejoice, although now for a little while you may have to suffer through various trials, so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that is perishable even though tested by fire, may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
- 1 Peter 1, 6-7
We stopped there on a journey with my daughter, it was Saturday morning and the church was open, music played and some people were around. There seemed to be lots of activities going on in the parish.
