What started with a small miraculous image of Our Lady brought from Rome in 1680, continued in the second half of the 18th century with crowds of pilgrims and building of the new church in Rococo style.
"The Church 'like a pilgrim in a foreign land, presses forward amid the persecutions of the world and the consolations of God.”
- St John Paul II, Redemptoris mater
I arrived just a few minutes late for the morning mass. A small crowd of people were heading towards their cars in the parking lot. The place became silent and meditative. I was struck by the modern way of cross leading up from the parking to the church.
