In the center of the baroque former Benedictine monastery complex stands an impressive stone church of St Martin.
"St Martin dedicated himself with ardent zeal to the evangelization of the countryside and the formation of the clergy..”
- Benedict XVI
I've driven around Ulm with its magnificent high tower of the gothic cathedral and reached the Wiblingen abbey in the early afternoon hours. The square in front of the church was full of students from the medical faculty housed in the former monastery. The mass of the stone facade wall seemed almost inapropriate rooted within the red and white baroque conventual buildings. But it worked together well, inviting the pilgrim to enter!
