Neo-baroque church of St Anne is built close to one of the most important pilgrimage places in Bavaria. It is the largest church built in Germany in 20th century.
"My hope is in Christ, who strengthens the weakest by His divine help; I can do all in Him who strengthened me!”
- Pius X
Altötting is a very familiar place for me, my wife spent a beautiful year of her life here and I visited it many times, sometimes on purpose, sometimes when I just randomly stopped by. I always wondered why the basilica minor is that of St Anne and not the Gnadenkapelle, a miraculous chapel in the heart of the city's main square. It is also a place Benedict XVI liked.
