Augustinian monastery north of Vienna on a hill above a Danube bend with rich history and views far away into the countryside.
"Our life is the most precious ‘book’ that is given to us, a book that unfortunately many do not read, or rather they do so too late, before dying. And yet, it is precisely in that book that one finds what one pointlessly seeks elsewhere.”
- Pope Francis on St Augustine
I visited it on my way from Vienna, in January, on a day with freezing sky and long views. Vienna lay down below on the horizon... I was impressed by the monumentality. The place of sky-high white towers and Anton Bruckner.
