The Austrian national shrine where the miraculous image of Our Lady is preserved.
"For 850 years pilgrims have been travelling here from different peoples and nations; they come to pray for the intentions of their hearts and their homelands, bringing their deepest hopes and concerns.”
- Pope Benedict XVI
I visited it twice in the same year. First, alone on my way through the north of Austria, and then with my family a few weeks later. During my first visit, the sound of bells ringing the noon welcomed me in the square of the city where the basilica stands. It was visibly a very vivid place and the center of Austrian spiritual life.
