Matthew Yi-Hsiu Lee is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at National Taiwan University, where he also earned his MA and BA degrees. His academic interests include political parties, elections, gender studies, Taiwan politics, and causal inference.
He was recently awarded the Fellowship for Doctoral Students in Humanities and Social Sciences from Academia Sinica. He is exploring how gender quotas shape gender attitudes. By comparing East Asian countries, he aims to provide a broader understanding of the long-term effects of quotas. These studies were recently published in the Electoral Studies and the Journal of Development Economics.
In the past, his work has been recognized with the Best Paper in Political Methodology Award from the Taiwanese Political Science Association and the Excellence Award from the Taipei Civil Education Foundation. This research has also been published in the Taiwanese Political Science Review.
