PRIVACY POLICY - MY DOODLE CHROME EXTENSION
Last Updated: October 2026
1. INTRODUCTION & CORE PRINCIPLE
My Doodle ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to respecting and protecting user privacy. The extension was designed from the ground up with a privacy-first, local-first philosophy.
We do NOT collect, transmit, sell, or monetize any personal data, search history, browsing data, IP addresses, or keystrokes. Everything you configure stays strictly on your local device.
2. WHAT DATA IS HANDLED AND WHERE IT IS STORED
The extension only handles user preferences explicitly chosen inside the popup:
- Custom logo text (e.g., your name or phrase)
- Font selection and color theme preferences
- Uploaded image data (saved as base64 in local browser storage) or image URLs
- Clock preferences (12h/24h format, date and seconds visibility)
- Scale, alignment, and display settings (margin offset, master ON/OFF switch)
All of the above settings are stored locally inside your browser using the Chrome Storage API (`chrome.storage.local`). They are never uploaded to any external server, cloud storage, or third-party database.
3. ARE ALL REQUESTED PERMISSIONS STRICTLY NECESSARY?
Yes. My Doodle requests the absolute bare minimum set of permissions required to perform its single purpose function.
Here is why each permission is required and why no dangerous or excessive permissions are used:
A) "storage" permission:
- Why it is needed: Allows the extension to save your custom doodle text, chosen colors, uploaded image, and layout settings so they remain active each time you open your browser.
- Could it be avoided? No, without this permission, your customized logo settings would be erased every time you close or reload a tab.
B) Google Domain Host Matches ("https://*.google.com/*" and regional domains):
- Why it is needed: Allows the extension to inject the content script exclusively onto Google search pages so that it can locate the Google logo DOM element and replace it with your custom doodle.
- Could it be avoided? No, without access to Google pages, the extension would not be able to display your customized doodle on the Google homepage.
- Limited Scope: Notice that we do NOT request broad permissions like "<all_urls>", "tabs", "webRequest", "cookies", "history", or access to any other websites. The extension operates strictly and solely on Google search domains.
4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES & ANALYTICS
- No Third-Party Tracking: My Doodle does not contain any third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, no telemetry, no tracking pixels, and no fingerprinting).
- No External Servers: The extension does not connect to any developer server or remote backend API.
- No Advertisements: We do not serve advertisements, affiliate links, or sponsored content.
5. USER CONTROL & DATA DELETION
You maintain full control over your data at all times:
- You can change, replace, or erase your custom text, uploaded images, and settings at any time in the popup.
- Clicking "Reset All Settings to Default" in the extension popup immediately clears all stored configuration.
- Uninstalling the extension automatically removes all extension data from your browser.
6. COMPLIANCE WITH POLICIES
This extension complies fully with the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Single Purpose Policy and the Limited Use Requirements.
