Summer House on Music Lane, the full service restaurant at Hotel Magdalena, is inspired by the casual sophistication that defines a lake house weekend. The menu features honest cooking taking cues from old school hospitality but with a decidedly unpretentious, Austin sensibility.

The tenth episode of the fifth season in Vanderpump Rules titled "Summer House Rules" served as a cross-over preview to Summer House.[4][5] The transition of the two-hour episode featured Kristen Doute, Katie Maloney, Stassi Schroeder and Scheana heading to New York and visiting the summer house alongside the cast. After the Vanderpump Rules cast departed New York, the second half featured primarily on the Summer House cast.[6][7] The second half of the episode attracted a total of 842,000 viewers.[8]

It was announced in April 2017 that the series had been renewed for a second season.[12] However, the Town of East Hampton denied permission to shoot at the same house on the Montauk/Napeague line. The Town noted that the house could not be used for commercial purposes, violated town codes prohibiting four unrelated people from living in a house, and was not on the town rental registry as required in 2017.[13]

Unlike previous seasons where filming took place over weekends throughout the summer, the format was changed for season five due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than traveling back and forth between New York City and the Hamptons each weekend, the cast lived together and worked from home in the Hamptons for a full six weeks while filming occurred.

Garden houses such as this one were based on such structures found on the estates of England that became popular in the late 18th century. They were hidden in little nooks and crannies and were a place of private escape and quiet.

This example was substantially restored to its original appearance in the late 1980s and retains important McIntire carvings. It is one of only three surviving such McIntire summer houses and retains nearly complete historic integrity. The garden view provides a landscape context for what the elites living here in the 18th century would have been looking out on while having their tea.

Frederick Law Olmsted was appointed by Congress in 1874 to develop and improve the Capitol Grounds, which had been enlarged in response to the addition of the north and south wings of the U.S. Capitol. He included the Summerhouse in response to complaints that visitors to the Capitol Building could not find water or a place to rest on their journey. In addition, he designed it as a setting for decorative vegetation.

The Summerhouse is constructed in the form of an open hexagon. The red brick used for its walls is laid in geometric and artistic patterns, forming volutes and other shapes, and taking on a "basket-weave" texture on the exterior walls on either side of each doorway. Some of the bricks have been carved or shaped to contribute to the design's overall effect. Arched doorways, each fitted with wrought-iron gates and flanked by small windows, occupy three of the building's six walls.

Olmsted was concerned that the Summerhouse not intrude upon the Capitol's landscape, but he was also careful to ensure that it was sufficiently public to prevent its use for improper purposes. Several of his letters show his active interest in the progress of the building and its landscaping. Most of these were written to F.H. Cobb, the engineer in charge of the Capitol Grounds. They range in content from Olmsted's attempts to secure the construction drawings from the draftsman, to his desire that progress be accelerated, to his instructions about mulching the shrubbery.

The letters also indicate areas in which the completed structure differed from his plans. For example, Olmsted intended that the overflow from the Summerhouse's fountain should operate a small device called the "carillon" to produce soft musical chimes; however, the device could not be made to work properly and so was never installed.

Olmsted originally planned two Summerhouses for the Capitol Grounds (references in two of his letters identify a northern and a southern Summerhouse); however, congressional objections to the northern Summerhouse before its completion prevented the construction of the southern one.

All twenty-two accommodations at Summer House at Wesley Palms are thoughtfully designed to meet the special needs of residents dealing with long-term memory loss. Arranged around a manicured garden and courtyard, each cottage offers access to relaxing shared spaces to enjoy nature and an inviting community clubhouse. Each unit includes a private porch looking into the courtyard, with a spacious living area and private bathroom equipped with a safe, walk-in shower. Sun-filled rooms are quiet, cozy and comfortable.

One of the things our residents first notice after moving in is how much they enjoy having their freedom again. Residents are safe to wander throughout the memory care neighborhood to see friends, find a quiet place to sit in the garden or head over to the clubhouse. Equipped with sensors and double-egress doors, our unique setup provides residents with both safety and autonomy.

Toompalli chokka or summer house was a lighter structure designed to provide shade from the sun and protection from the elements. The timbers that formed the walls of the summer house were made from thin strips of pine or cypress. Did you notice how the building was built in the shape of a rectangle? This shape provided a long peaked roof, which was made from split saplings or bundles of cane. The tent-like roof allowed the eaves to be vented which let the breeze pass easily through the building.

According to some oral history accounts, these houses did not have walls attached until it rained. Then the walls were handily placed against the house and interlaced with rope on the existing supporting poles. Summer houses had floors attached to supporting poles which were placed approximately two or three feet from the ground. Items could be stored underneath the floors of the houses.

My family and another family, total of 4 adults and 6 children stayed here for a long weekend and it was incredible! We also had 2 nannies come with us who stayed in the detached carriage house. More than enough space for all of us. The house was very clean and the fully stocked with kitchen for cooking was a plus. The master on the 2nd floor has a huge walk-in closet perfect for an infant's pack-n-play. You can't beat the location of this house - right next to the pool and across from the beach access. This house was amazing! It was perfect for our family of 11.Ā

The resort is wonderful. House was so close to beach and pool. PersonnelĀ

Were so welcoming. The lawn activities were fun! I could not have asked for a

Better stay.

Pros: very nice house, nicely decorated, lots of patio spaces to sit outside, good location near pool and boardwalk to the beach, and parking for three cars.

Cons: ice maker did not work, lots of golf carts driving by with music blaring.

The house was amazing! It was perfectly laid out for a family of 9. Very nicely decorated/appointed located close to the boardwalk and Kiera pool. It exceeded all of our expectations. We are already planning our next years trip!

This home is spectacular! The owners attention to detail and beautiful furnishings were greatly appreciated. The beds were amazing and the carriage house bedroom is just right for that couple who craves more privacy. The location is very close to the boardwalk and a swimming pool. You can even see and hear the ocean from across the street. The kitchen was a real treat to cook in. My husband loved the six burner stove with a griddle and warming shelf. The kiddos enjoyed his pancakes almost every morning. We had 4 adult couples and 7 children in ages of 18 month up to 14 years of age. Everyone had a wonderful time and hated to leave.
