MX Player Privacy Policy

MX Player is designed primarily for offline, on-device media playback. This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information.

Information we collect

MX Player does not require an account and does not operate an advertising, analytics, or media-upload backend. The developer does not collect personal information, viewing history, imported media, subtitles, thumbnails, or device identifiers through the app.

Your media and app data

Videos and audio selected from Photos or the Files app are stored in the app's private on-device storage so they can be played offline. Media titles, thumbnails, playlists, favorites, playback progress, extracted audio, and imported subtitles remain on the device and are not uploaded to the developer.

Permissions and system services

MX Player may use the following Apple-provided permissions or system services:

• Photos access: to let you select videos to import. MX Player does not scan or upload your photo library. • Files access: to let you select media and subtitle files. • Background audio: to continue playback when you switch apps or lock the screen. • Picture in Picture: to continue video playback in a system-provided floating window. • Translation: on iOS 18 or later, imported subtitle text can be translated using Apple's Translation framework. Language availability and downloads are managed by Apple's system services. The developer does not receive the subtitle text or translated result.

Data retention and deletion

Imported files and app data remain on your device until you delete individual items, clear the app's data using an available in-app control, or uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app normally removes data stored in its private container, subject to Apple's device backup and restoration behavior.

Children's privacy

MX Player is not designed to collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, this policy and its "Last updated" date will be revised before or when the relevant change is released, as required.
