POLITICAL SATIRIST | FORMER MAYOR | ZALARIAN ENTHUSIAST
One evening. Three creative voices. A conversation about humor, art, and the real power of helping people see things differently.
How does a joke become satire? What makes a cartoon stick with us? Why does humor have such extraordinary cultural power, and what happens when artists use it to challenge, engage, and connect us?
Join humorist Mickie Winkler, with artists and activists Angelo Lopez, and Innosanto Nagara for a lively panel discussion exploring the art and craft behind humor, cartoons, illustration, and writing—and how these creative forms are evolving in today's cultural landscape. Moderated by publicist Sarah Sherwood.
ABOUT THE PANEL:
Mickie Winkler is an irreverent writer of short humor and former mayor of Menlo Park who has lived in many different countries. Her life abroad inspired her alien perspective, and her life in politics was a non-stop inspiration for humor.
Angelo Lopez is an editorial cartoonist you may have seen, one who has won the Robert F. Kennedy Book and Journalism Award for Editorial Cartoons. He produces both non-political fine art and editorial cartoons that serve as a medium for civic engagement.
Innosanto Nagarra is a children's author, activist, and graphic designer. He has spent the majority of his career fighting the oppression of vulnerable communities.
