Jungle Collage

Essential Question(s):

• How do artists create the illusion of space in 2D artwork?

Students will:

• Identify and describe the element of art space in artwork (overlapping, size, foreground. middle ground and background).

• Compare the artworks of artist Melissa Miller, Henri Rousseau and Edward Hicks.

• Create painted paper for their collage using analogous colors.

• Create a jungle themed collage using overlapping to create space.

• Critique my artwork and others by:

  • Describe: Tell exactly what you see ( Who is the artist? What year was it created? Do not use value word such as ugly or pretty).

  • Analyze: Use the elements of art and principles of design to reflect upon the artwork.
