Meet the Team

Who are we? We are a group of students from several surrounding towns, including Lowell, Dracut, Tewksbury, Salem, Chelmsford, Pelham, and Methuen. We are lucky to be mentored by several engineers and professionals from several local companies including Analog Devices, Kronos, L-3, IBM, Amazon Robotics, and Middlesex Community College. Together we are 5962 - perSEVERE.

Meet Our Amazing Mentors

Position on the Team: Lead Mentor

Occupation: Software Systems Engineering Manager at Analog Devices

Bio: Mike is the President of Merrimack Valley Robotics, Inc, as well as the Treasurer for Cub Scout Pack 8 in Dracut. He is currently working on a Masters of Engineering Management degree at UMass Lowell. He is a veteran of the US Air Force, working in the Air Force Technical Applications Center. In his spare time, he likes to...wait, what is spare time?

Jamie Woodhead

Position on the Team: Lead Mentor

Occupation: VP of Engineering at Senet

Alexander Brunelle

Position on the Team: Mechanical Mentor, Drive Coach

Occupation: Drafter at L-3

Bio: Alex is the lead mechanical mentor and drive coach for the team. He is a drafter at L-3 and an alum from FRC Team 166, Chop Shop. Previously he helped to mentor 166 before our team's existence. His favorite color is silver and his favorite food is spaghetti or anything Italian.

Mike Riendeau

Position on the Team: Mentor

Occupation: Sr. Software Design Engineer at Analog Devices; Treasurer of Merrimack Valley Robotics

Bio: He is a Senior Software Design Engineer at Analog Devices. He is an electrical mentor on the team. He is also the treasurer of Merrimack Valley Robotics.

David LeMasurier

Position on the Team: Software Mentor

Occupation: Software Engineering Manager at Kronos Inc. in Lowell

Bio: He is the lead software mentor. He earned his bachelors degree at UMass Lowell and completed his masters degree in computer science at Boston University. He was a software engineer for 21 years and has been a software engineering manager for the past three years. In his spare time he coaches soccer and spends time with his four kids.

Anthony Iarrapino

Position on the team: Mentor

Occupation: Professor at Middlesex Community College

Bio: He is a professor of Engineering and CAD at Middlesex Community College. He was also an engineering teacher at Lowell High School for over a decade. He also worked at several companies including Analog Devices. As an Italian, he loves pasta.

Greg LeMasurier

Position on the team: Software Mentor

Occupation: Student at UMass Lowell

Bio: He is an alum from perSEVERE 5962 and is a computer science major at UMass Lowell.

Jack Kelly

Position on the team: Mechanical Mentor

Occupation: Hamilton Cabinets/ Student at UMass Lowell

Bio: An alum from 1153. He is studying mechanical engineering. He loves to mountain bike.

Jeffrey LeMasurier

Nicholas Benjamin

Position on the Team: Safety Program Mentor

Occupation: Student, Rec Center Safety Team

Bio: Nick has been in FIRST since 2011 as a member of FLL 5134, Billerica Bots. In high school, he joined FRC 4909, Bionics. He worked with every subteam, including business, electrical, mechanical, and safety. He has been to the world championship twice. Nick helped his team earn 11 safety pins (a safety award and ten runner-ups). He has a Star of the Day and six Best Pit Safety awards. He hopes to one day receive an EMT certification and work to develop better life support systems. Outside of robotics, Nick is an Eagle Scout, a mountain biker, and loves cars way more than anyone should.

Sarah Mahannah

Position on the Team: Business and Outreach Mentor

Occupation: Student at UMass Lowell

Bio: Sarah is from Weymouth, Massachusetts and an alum of FRC team 4151. Outside of robotics, she enjoys spending time with friends, watching the Red Sox, softball and being outdoors.

Justin Thibeault

Position on the Team: Electrical and Mechanical Mentor

Occupation: Student at UMass Lowell, Trading Room Assistant

Bio: An Electrical Engineering Major. In his time on team 4176, as his teams safety captain Justin earned his team the Safety Award, Safest Pit 2x, and Star of the Day. Other than keeping his team safe, he also worked hard to CAD, build, and wire his teams robots. Justin has plans to improve his time management skills, but needs to set aside some time from his busy schedule to get to work on it. In his free time, if he had any, he would enjoy gaming and hanging out with his friends.

Bio: Hannah was on Team 1967 while in high school. She has been involved in FIRST since 4th grade.

Shivam Desai

School: Lowell High School

Position on the Team: Co-Captain

Bio: He is a sophomore at Lowell High School. When he is not at robotics, he enjoys playing volleyball. He has been on the team for three years doing electrical, mechanical, business and plans on doing software this year.

Katherine Huang

Grade: 12

School: Lowell High School

Position on the Team: Co-Captain

Bio: Kat is excited to help improve the team’s skills and performance and ensure that every member enjoys being on the team. She hopes to gain knowledge in electrical and mechanical engineering while managing the team from an administrative and community outreach standpoint. Outside of robotics, Kat founded Science & Us and organizes MAHacks, a hackathon for high schoolers.

Bio: He has been on the team for two years doing electrical and mechanical.

Yash Patel

Bio: I am a Junior at Lowell High. I like Robotics because its motivating. My favorite sport is Soccer. I like to play video games and also I like to do photography in free time. I am curious to learn more about Software engineering and want to pursue my future in computer science and Programming.

Bio: A sophomore Latin Lyceum student at Lowell High School. He likes robotics because it its interactive and engaging. He also loves gaming, computers, experiments, and relaxing.

Vishwa Devisetti

Bio: She is a well-respected member of the Knowledge Bowl in the Daley Middle School. She likes to read fantasy books and informational books. In her free time she likes to do origami and other arts and crafts. She will be doing Cross Country. She is a young student so she is open to explore the many opportunities in the academic life in the world.

Bio: A Latin Lyceum student who enjoys reading historical fiction and doing math on Khan Academy. He does crew, swimming, and track for Lowell High school. He challenges himself to pursue his passion for computer science and wants to work in software development.

Bio: A Latin Lyceum sophomore at Lowell High.He is on the JV track team. He skis in his free time in the winter with his friends. He watches the Flash and other CW shows. He is also on Netflix. He is curious in electrical engineering and exploring many engineering opportunities.

Bio: Latin Lyceum sophomore student. An inspiring computer engineer. He is on the Varsity Tennis Team. Likes working out, playing tennis, and video games during free time. Enjoys learning new things and is adaptable. Curious on science and math subjects.

William Luangoudom

Bio: A half Cambodian and half Laotian 16 year old who is a junior at Lowell High School. He smiles very often and laughs at pretty much anything. He enjoys listening to music and watching tokusatsu. He doesn’t play a sport, but plays video games very often.
