Protection of freshwater mussels:
Science and mitigation of sediment-related impacts
Protection of freshwater mussels:
Science and mitigation of sediment-related impacts
A (Virtual) Symposium on June 1 and 2, 2021
Vision: To bring scientists, engineers, and stakeholders together to share science advances and discuss the best practices for protection of freshwater mussels. The symposium will emphasize the sedimentation impacts related to transportation systems.
Objectives:
1) Communicate the state of science on effects of suspended, deposit, and bed sediments on freshwater mussels.
2) Share best practices for managing sediment disturbance and water resources under the context of transportation infrastructure development.
3) Discuss data gaps and research needs critical to understand and protect freshwater mussel species and populations.
