Ramadan Mubarak ✨ Check out the upcoming MIA Event: Iftaar with Academics!
A global network of academics dedicated to provide support and opportunities, collaborate, and empower young Muslims in Academia.
Together, we foster growth, celebrate achievements, and build a united community.
As we strive to empower and support the growth of young Muslims in academia, we realized we need to increase the Muslim representation, primarily in STEM.
As we aim to surpass the high standards we've set for MIA, we need to begin by fostering a strong community of these Muslim academics. Furthermore, in order to grow and expand as a single body, we need to generate and make available the access to a vast array of diverse opportunities among the community.
Our current vision can be allocated to two main branches, with the promise, of course, to expand higher and wider to encompass all areas of the world.
We’re actively building, developing, and expanding a vibrant network where Muslim academics and aspiring students can collaborate, share knowledge, and support each other’s growth. Our community fosters mutual aid and intellectual exchange, empowering both current and future academics to excel and enhance Muslim representation in academia.
We’re dedicated to providing Muslim academics with access to resources, research opportunities, and platforms to showcase their work. By opening doors and creating pathways, we aim to enhance visibility and recognition of Muslim contributions in academia.
We opened our first chapter at the founding grounds of MIA - University of Toronto (Scarborough Campus), Canada. MIA is now a recognized and respected club at UTSC.
As we grow our roots at UTSC, we aim to use this as an adaptive blueprint for our next chapters, magnifying the hits, and learning from the misses.
We plan to use the momentum from our UTSC chapter to propel us across the country, and soon, across the globe.
We strived to reach and connect with as many communities as possible early on. In order to do that easily and effectively, we needed to establish a solid foundation: an MIA web presence.
As of October 01, 2024, MIA is now a publicly accessible resource where you can find all information about MIA, past and future Events, current Chapters, Workshops, and other opportunities for personal growth.
We aim to continuously develop and nurture this platform as it is one of the primary sources of connections between us and the community.
In order to do that, we need your help: please feel free to suggest any improvements you'd like to see on the MIA webpage.
