“O Sylvan Wye! thou wanderer thro' the woods, How often has my spirit turned to thee!” Wordsworth
This album was inspired by the moods and mysteries of the river Wye. I live and work beside the river and it seemed inevitable that sooner or later I would write an album about it. I've recorded fourteen pieces of music along with sounds from the natural world, and braided them together to create something a little different to my previous albums. Bird song, the beating of swans’ wings, the voice of a young girl, the sounds of the river trickling and tumbling its way downstream - all interweave with the music. It traces the path of the river as it wends its way through spectacular countryside from its source at Plynlimon, down to Chepstow where it joins the Severn, and flows on towards the sea.
