This kind of cable allows for electronic musical devices to interface with hardware, such as other electronic musical devices or a computer.
MIDI cables send data in one direction, IN or OUT.
The images below demonstrates how to connect a MIDI keyboard (Keytar: Roland AX-7) to a sequencer (Yamaha QY70).
Note: The Roland AX-7 and Yamaha QY70 are discontinued.
The Yamaha QY70 Sequencer is used as a sound module that is controlled by the MIDI keyboard.
The midi cable is connected to the Keyboard's output. This allows the keyboard to send signals to the sequencer.
The other side of the midi cable is connected to the QY70 sequencer input, where it reads in the keyboard's controls.
The keyboard can be used to play the notes, switch between voices, and control the effects.
midi to usb cables allows you to interface your midi controllers to the computer.
Midi-usb cables has two midi plugs (in/out) and one usb connector.
Music software will recognize the Midi/usb interface and allow you to control the software with your midi controllers.
