A little bit about Moss!
The Uprising
Our story starts with a young little character. A little guy, if you will, born and raised on a compound with plenty of other families similar to theirs. The routine was the same for all the lower members; wake up, do what they’re told, sleep. Nobody argued. Nobody dissented.
Little Moss grew up in this compound, learning what and how to be. They were taught to listen to their elders, read the ancient texts during their schooling, and to be kind to the homeless when the group gave out food. Their leader described this place as a Heaven on Earth, a place for only the true believers.Â
Though one day, Moss couldn’t help but question the ways of their life. It was simple, yet repetitive. Wasn’t there more? they questioned. The elders heard this, and decided to show them why nobody left, to show it why the people outside of the compound were unenlightened… By sending them to a public high school.
At first, Moss was horrified. Surrounded by the unenlightened for hours each day instead of helping out around the compound!? Horrid, really. And for the first two weeks, it was, with all the loudness and business and overall chaos of high school hallways. But every kid they spoke to seemed to have their own unique experiences, their own choice as to what they wanted to do. With time, Moss began toÂ
notice the cracks in its own life. The school taught them things that the compound insisted were false, yet they gave convincing evidence as to why it was true.
When Moss got back to the compound, they decided that they were done. It wanted to be free, too! Free to eat what they wanted to eat, free to relax when they wanted to, free to learn the truth! It confronted the leader on what they had learned at school, asking, almost begging, to be proven wrong. The leader had said one thing in response:
“If you can’t respect what we give, you can leave.”
And so, Moss did.Â
Moss packed their bags and explored the world, walking aimlessly for weeks. They discovered that cities were interesting and full, but loud and overwhelming. After all its traveling, they walked themselves into the woods, passing clearings, trees and animals all to find a place filled with kind people. People from all over the world, led by three elders who were given the land, protected by only the most loyal.
Moss settled in quickly, enjoying the newfound freedom in its life. The three elders of these forests were quite kind, if not a bit anti-social. It made friends, people who had their own thoughts, people who chose what to eat, who they talked to and how loud they laughed.
Moss dedicated itself to keeping the forest safe and advocating through their community, living like they once thought was impossible. They found themselves thriving, and it was chosen by the elders themselves to be the protector of the forest at twenty.Â
Throughout their travels, Moss had managed to find a mystical and mushy community, which was all they had ever longed for. No matter what may try to hurt the forest, Moss would be there to defend it and every single one of its inhabitants, because the forest had accepted them when they needed it most.Â
This is the end of this tale, for now that is. There's still more to their story. Wait patiently for updates.
