IVID (IGNORANCE VIRUS DISEASE)

We see in the cartoon, firstly, a man with a mobile phone sitting in an armchair. He says “I don’t understand this silly fear of the Covid. I’ve met with so many people and I don’t know anyone who caught it!”. Right behind him there is the SARS-CoV-2, with arms that project in a menacing way towards the man — it is remarkable the lack of knowledge of the latter in relation to the former.

It was sought to represent the character in a highly unconcerned and casual setting, in order to show his attitude in relation to the pandemic. The mobile phone was used to relate to the main mean of sharing fake news — throughout social networks. The virus was drawn in such manner as to emphasize the threat it represents, being able to “attack” us at any moment, in a way that it is unpredictable if any of us will get sick. With this pose, it is aimed at, also, a critique of the reductionist thought about the pandemic since many people have met someone that spoke with disregard of the current state; that is an analysis for everyone to identify with.
