Members of the Murray State University Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter traveled to Nashville on April 27 for a professional development visit with Murray State alumni Lauren Reed and Michaelyn Modglin of REED Public Relations.
The visit began with lunch, where students connected with Reed and Modglin while reflecting on their time at Murray State University and discussing their professional journeys. The conversation also highlighted the history and growth of REED Public Relations, offering students valuable insight into building a successful agency.
Following lunch, students visited the agency’s office for a Q&A session with members of the REED PR team, including partner Katherine Green, account supervisor Jessi Boozer, and senior account coordinator Carrie Huddleston. The discussion provided meaningful advice on entering the public relations field, navigating career paths, and building confidence as young professionals.
Students were encouraged to ask questions openly, creating an environment where they felt comfortable discussing their passions, concerns, and uncertainties about transitioning from college to the workforce. The candid and supportive atmosphere allowed for genuine conversations that resonated with many soon-to-be graduates.
The visit concluded with a tour of the REED Public Relations office, where students experienced the agency’s thoughtfully designed workspace firsthand. The environment reflected a strong sense of creativity, collaboration, and community, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
“Experiences like this are invaluable for our members as they prepare to enter the industry,” said Murray State PRSSA President, Natalie Gardner. “The opportunity to learn from alumni who have built successful careers is both inspiring and encouraging.”
