Meet the Pros

The Murray State University Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) did not hold its regular weekly meeting on Thursday, October 16. Instead, members were encouraged to attend the Meet the Pros event, hosted on the third floor of the Curris Center from 4–6 p.m.

This annual networking event gave students the opportunity to connect directly with industry professionals across a variety of fields related to their majors. For public relations students, it was an especially valuable chance to engage with experts currently working in the industry, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of career paths after graduation.

In attendance were several notable PR professionals, including Kelly Chanell, Ashley Bitters, Amy Turner, Tori Daugherty, Dana Howard, Ashley Horn, and Patrick Wadlington—many of whom are proud Murray State alumni. Their insights offered students a phenomenal glimpse into the real-world applications of PR, from agency work to corporate communications and beyond.

The event was both inspiring and informative, reminding students of the power of networking and the importance of building professional connections early in their careers.
