Thursday, Sept. 26, Murray State University’s PRSSA Chapter kicked off its new “Let's Talk PR Series,” an event designed to learn about the diverse careers students can achieve in PR.
Tiffany Blazina, PR Director of Crittenden County Board of Education – and former Murray PRSSA member, came to speak to the chapter.
As the PR Director of Crittenden County Board of Education, Mrs. Blazina said she takes on many responsibilities: Managing HR, designing school magazines, planning school and district-wide events, planning monthly board meetings, managing social media, and crisis control. She says that within her responsibilities, she must also build relationships with parents, the community, and Channel 6 news.
After sharing her story with the students in attendance, Mrs. Blazina shared some advice she said she thought was important for aspiring professionals to know.
“First and foremost, you have to follow the rules,” said Blazina.
She recommended that students be as transparent as possible when building and maintaining relationships with future employers, clients, and members of the community. She said she highly encourages that students network and apply for internships for the best opportunities.
A lasting message she said she wanted attendees to take away from her visit was to “never rule out things,” as she had experienced many different career paths before landing in the Crittenden Country district.
The Murray State PRSSA Chapter would like to thank Mrs. Tiffany Blazina for taking the time to offer guidance to passionate students, as well as her thoughtful gifts.
