Munuera Lab

Local probe microscopy

Welcome to the Munuera Lab website. The Lab is part of the 2D Foundry, a research group of the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (which is part of the Spanish Research Council).

In our group we investigate the nanoworld using proximal probes as main tools. Atomic Force Microscopy and its related modes (Kelvin Probe, Piezo Force or Magnetic Force Microscopy) are our eyes and hands to probe the emergent phenomena arising when materials dimensions are reduced.

Our research interests cover a broad range, from correlated oxide thin films and heterostructures to vortex matter in superconductors or two-dimensional materials (graphene, MoS2, MoO3…). Our main objective is to understand and manipulate the functional properties (i.e. electromechanical, magnetic and/or optical) of these systems, with special attention to nanostructures and interfaces.
