Research Focus
Our research in Sustainable Algae Biotechnology focuses on optimising the cultivation conditions of microalgae for targeted applications. We aim to understand the metabolic pathways of microalgal cultures and use controlled photobioreactor systems to provide the microalgae with suitable environments for enhanced biomass productivity and valuable metabolite accumulation. Key areas of our research include developing stress-tolerant microalgae, modelling growth dynamics under environmental stresses, and optimising bioprocessing strategies for large-scale applications. By bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial-scale deployment, this work aims to advance cost-effective, sustainable solutions with high commercialisation potential in renewable energy and biotechnology.
