Another year of Multiplex has come to an end and what a great and odd year it was! To celebrate another season in the history books (and also to shamelessly capitalize on the trend of everyone sharing their Spotify Wrapped stats this week), I figured it would be a fun idea to collect a bunch of random stats to both examine the league’s trends and find out what the league’s favourite categories are. Before we get started I want to give a special shout out to Caleb Boatman and Rajko Krminac for their help with creating and modifying the spreadsheets used to collect this data. So without further ado, here is your Multiplex Wrapped!
Perfect Round 1s
This year in melee you had many strong showings in the whiteboard round and scored a total of 42 perfect rounds with 27 of them being TRUE perfect rounds! Here is the full breakdown of all 21 players that pitched a perfect round 1 in Melee:
Joseph Olivas x5 (4 true perfect)
Jeremy Adams x5 (4 true perfect)
Payson Johnson x5 (3 true perfect)
Jake Maringoni x4 (all true perfect)
Jake Meltzer x3 (1 true perfect)
Caleb Boatman x2 (all true perfect)
Kirk Kowalkowski x2 (1 true perfect)
Kaleb Koho x2 (1 true perfect)
Dylan Vanthuyne x2 (1 true perfect)
Cameron Redshaw (true perfect)
Jeremy Potters (true perfect)
Steve Mesa (true perfect)
Erick Moreno (true perfect)
Paul Oyama (true perfect)
Tom Houseman (true perfect)
Michael Campbell
Jacob Cameron
Mark Menchaca
Tony Durso
Ryan Payne
Brian Michaels
In Blockbuster Brawl, you pitched a total of 5 perfect rounds! While that pesky bonus point proved to be too elusive this year, that just means that the record for the first true perfect round in Brawl history is still up for grabs next season! Here are the five players in the perfect round club in Brawl:
Matthew Chen
Kaiser Huang
Cameron Redshaw
Albert Wiradharma
Jake Meltzer
Melee Round 2 Strengths
Across all three divisions in Movie Melee in 2025, you selected a total of 185 different strengths! But ironically enough, your favourite strength (or least favourite depending on the reader) was “no strength at all” which you chose 16 times! Will you be able to do this next season? Tune in to the year-end Multiplex Town Hall live on the channel this week to find out! Anyways, listed below are the rest of your top five most used strengths of 2025. Disclaimer: for this section I decided to combine categories that are essentially the same except for a small number of movies hence why, for example, Joel Coen and The Coen Brothers are combined.
No strength (16 times)
Joel Coen / The Coen Brothers (14 times)
TIE: James Bond and Disney Animation (12 times each)
Recent Release Horror (11 times)
Dario Argento (9 times)
Melee Preferred General Round 2 Categories
Of the 30 general categories to choose from in round 2, your favorite general category to put on the wheel by a small margin was Horror (*Dylan nods approvingly*) which you selected 46 times across all three divisions! Here is the full list of your top five most selected general categories in 2025:
Horror (46 times)
TIE: Recent Releases and Oscars (44 times each)
Comic Book Movies (38 times)
Animated (16 times)
Sports (15 times)
Additionally, there were six general categories that you selected zero times in round 2 this year. These categories were Biopics, Drama, Music, Romance, Scores & Soundtracks, and (most surprisingly) mystery/thriller.
Brawl Round 2 Categories
Your top categories in the realm of Blockbuster Brawl features a mix of old school geek staples and Brawl exclusive categories. In the end, Middle Earth, the Wizarding World, and (surely everyone's favourite in this category) Narnia reigned supreme as Wands, Wardrobes, & Rings was your top category in 2025! Here are your most selected categories in Brawl this year:
Wands, Wardrobes, & Rings (6 times)
TIE: Brains! and Directors (5 times each)
TIE: Dark Futures and Studio Ghibli (4 times each)
TIE: Space Odysseys, Spirit of Adventure, and Zero to Hero (3 times each)
Spinner’s and Opponent’s Choice
I think it is safe to say that you had a complicated relationship with the wheel in 2025. Across all divisions in both Melee and Brawl, you spun Spinner’s Choice a total of 44 times! Of those 44 times, you went 25-19 (win percentage = 56.8%). There was a lot of competition for who was the wheel’s favourite player in 2025. In fact, there was a 7 way tie for second place with 3 spinner’s choice spins a piece. However, the wheel’s #1 favourite player was none other than Matthew Chen who spun Spinner’s Choice 4 times in 2025! Here are all of the players that spun SC three times or more in 2025:
Matthew Chen (4 times)
Erick Moreno (3 times)
Jacoby Bancroft (3 times)
Jake Maringoni (3 times)
Joseph Olivas (3 times)
Mike Hanley (3 times)
Rajko Krminac (3 times)
Matt Cuellar (3 times)
On the other hand, a lot of you seemed to piss off the wheel this year considering you spun Opponent’s Choice a total of 47 times! Of those 47 times, you went 16-31 (win percentage = 34%). Of all the players in the league, the two players that the wheel hated the most this year were Adelaide Spence and Cameron Redshaw who each spun Opponent’s Choice a total of 6 times! It is also worth pointing out that Jake Maringoni is the only player to appear on both the wheel’s favourite players and least favourite players lists, thus making him this year's recipient of the “MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND WHEEL!” award. Here are all of the players that spun OC 3 times or more in 2025:
Adelaide Spence (6 times)
Cameron Redshaw (6 times)
Robert Castner (5 times)
Dylan Vanthuyne (5 times)
Jake Maringoni (4 times)
Kirk Kowalkowski (4 times)
David Nishimoto (3 times)
Jeremy Adams (3 times)
Kaleb Koho (3 times)
Tony Durso (3 times)
Dean Manness (3 times)
