Who Am I?
I have been a professor at Hanyang University since March 2011. Also, I have been an Executive Committee Member in International Society of Structural Optimization since 2023,and a General Member in International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (IUTAM). Before joining Hanyang University in March 2005, I was an assistant research professor and research associate at the Technical University of Denmark and Delft University of Technology. After conducting research in Denmark, I was appointed as an assistant professor at Kyungpook National University. I obtained my PhD from the Institute of Advanced Machinery and Design at Seoul National University in 2004.
My research is focused on structural optimization and fluid-structure interaction, with an emphasis on topology optimization. My work received the Best Presentation Award 1999 KSME, Samsung HumanTech Award 2002, Best Paper Award, 2005 KSME, and the International Society of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization 2007, 2023 Symposium Academic Award from the Multiscale Mechanics Society, the 2024 PIDOTECH Promising Researcher Award from the Korean Society for Optimal Design, and the Paper Award at the 2024 Annual Conference of the Korean Society of Computational Structural Engineering.
