-Welcome to the Asian American Mental Health Space-
Made by: MJ Kim, Grace Lee, Ruyi Wan
Description:
We have created a worksheet to provide the AAPI community have an outlet for any feelings of anxiety and pressure regarding things like family expectations, personal expectations, school, work, etc.
"In many Asian cultures, mental illness is stigmatizing; it reflects poorly on family lineage and can influence others' beliefs about the suitability of an individual for marriage. It is more acceptable for psychological distress to be expressed through the body than through the mind." (Kramer, 2002).
We wanted to create this resource to help people understand their feelings while also finding people with similar struggles to create a sense of community. While filling out this worksheet, it enables people to take their time with their response, which provides a good time to self-reflect, while also giving the option to work with other people while answering the questions.
We aim to create a safe online space where Asian Americans can reflect, connect, and heal.
