Mukesh Gautam, PhD

Hello! I am Mukesh Gautam. I received the B.E. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Tribhuvan University, Pulchowk Campus, Nepal, in 2013 and 2017, respectively. I also earned an M.A. degree in economics from Tribhuvan University, Patan Campus, Nepal, in 2019. In 2022, I obtained a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno.

In February 2023, I joined the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) as a postdoctoral research associate. Prior to joining INL, I worked as a lecturer at Kathmandu Engineering College in Nepal for two years and as an electrical engineer for the Budhi Ganga Hydropower Project under the Department of Electricity Development, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation of Nepal for four years. During my Ph.D., I also worked as a National Science Foundation-funded intern at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory for six months.

My research interests include reliability, stability, and resiliency of cyber-physical energy systems, application of machine/deep learning in power systems, optimization, and renewable energy integration.
