successful, she even managed to maintain her position undercover while ensuring rafi made it to safety to receive treatment.  once her operation had ended, mara visited rafi in hospital.  due to his injuries and trauma, he was honourably discharged.  rafi explained to mara how devastated he was, that flying was all he'd known and that he was deeply passionate about it.  this led to mara seeking his recruitment as her own personal, private pilot  -  having her own trust issues with the cia since the betrayal.  with some negotiation, they came to an agreement.  he's still in touch with his brother, and visits spain where he can to share his adventures with him.

once rafi had fully recovered, he acted as a private associate of mara's, enabling her trustworthy travel between mission locations.  since approx. mid 2016, he has been by her side.
